About
Skaiste Venckevi (b. 2001) is a ceramics artist raised in Lithuania and currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Her ceramic pieces plays at the intersection of functional design and sculpture. Drawing inspiration from different artistic mediums and subcultures, Skaiste's work blurs the boundaries between utility and art, inviting viewers to engage with objects that are both practical and deeply introspective.
Inspired by traditional craftsmanship but rooted in modern design sensibilities, minimalist approach emphasises organic, fluid shapes, texture, and natural imperfections, exploring metaphors surrounding clay material, processes and function.
While many of her works maintain a sense of functionality, they also transcend functional purpose, becoming vessels of narrative and personal reflection. Embodying metaphors inherent in the clay itself, being not just as a vessel, but as an extension of ones inner self. Open-ended and suggestive, her designs aim to evoke subtle narratives—whether inspired by nature or personal introspection—leaving room for interpretation by the viewer
